Specific brown cat breeds, like the Persian and British Shorthair, need lots of time as they need to be groomed regularly. It is best to brush them daily to prevent them from suffering of knotting and matting. If this happens, they can get very uncomfortable. This can even lead to a shift in behavior, as knots can be very painful.
