An Oriental Shorthair cat can live from 14 to 17 years. This type of cat is very eager to learn and are attached to their owners. This also makes that you should have quite some time on your hands when considering buying or adopting this cat breed, as they will require lots of attention.

The Persian cat is another brown cat breed with a lot of fluffy fur. Therefore, this cat needs to be groomed and brushed regularly, to prevent knots or matting. Aside from them needing a lot of attention for grooming, they are not considered to be the most playful type of cat. Rather, they are more reserved.

Or, if you have the time to brush or groom your cat regularly. These types of things are significant in order for you to know whether or not you can handle a specific brown cat breed.

Specific brown cat breeds, like the Persian and British Shorthair, need lots of time as they need to be groomed regularly. It is best to brush them daily to prevent them from suffering of knotting and matting. If this happens, they can get very uncomfortable. This can even lead to a shift in behavior, as knots can be very painful. Therefore, if you are considering to buy or adopt this brow cat breed, you need to have time to deal with lots of brushing and grooming. Once this is not the case, it might be best to get a different kind of brown-haired cat breed, like a Devon Rex or Oriental Shorthair, as they will not need grooming.
